SVE is Reading the Red Carpet!
SVE is Reading the Red Carpet for Right to Read Week March 20-24th!
Sandy Valley Elementary will be celebrating “Right to Read” Week! There will be many events going on throughout the building. One activity that requires a little work from home is for your child to read every night. A sheet of slips to fill out and sign once your child has read has been sent home. Remember, these must be books your child has read throughout this week, not ones he or she read last week or last year. When signing each slip, please make sure to note the book criteria below. As these slips are returned to school each day, we will be tallying up the number of books read by each grade level.
How books will be counted:
Preschool – 2nd = Number of books read
3rd – 5th = Number of books read OR pages read (15 pages=1 book)
Awards: The Top Reader in each grade level will play a special role in the closing ceremony for Right to Read week!
We encourage each student to participate in the following themed days:
Monday, Mar. 20th - Mismatch Day! Don’t let the Paparazzi notice you!
Tuesday, Mar. 21st - Shine Bright like a star! Wear glitter, glam, sunglasses, boas, or neon!
Wednesday, Mar. 22nd - Woke up late for an audition! Let’s see your crazy hair!
Thursday, Mar. 23rd - Dress to impress on the Red Carpet!
Friday, Mar. 24th - Lounging around watching the Oscars! Wear your comfy Pajamas!
