Academic Booster Club

What is it all about:

Rewarding and encouraging academic achievements as well as good attendance.

How do we accomplish this:

With SUPPORT FROM OUR COMMUNITY, we are able to reward our students for their academic achievements in many ways. Such as:

   Red & Gray Cards:

If students have missed three days of school or less and have attained a 4.0 GPA or better, they will receive a RED card.

If students receive a 3.5 to a 3.99 GPA and have not missed more than three days, they will receive a GRAY card, and their privileges are the same as the red cardholder’s except they don’t get the library privilege.

Junior high students that earn a 3.5 GPA or better and again haven’t missed more than three days receive WHITE cards.

The cards are given to the students in an envelope that has food coupons from

MCDONALD’S OF WAYNESBURG AND CANTON SOUTH AND SUBWAY OF MAGNOLIA.

Another form of encouragement is the DRAWINGS we hold at the end of each nine week grading period. We give away 40 GIFTS (8 each day of the week).

Drawing gifts come in many different forms such as GIFTCERTIFICATES TO TAGGARTS, CROSSROAD’S AND CIBO’S RESTAURANTS,

GIFT CERTIFICATES TO BEST BUY, EMBROID ME, BELL STORES, CROSSROADS PIZZA, MOVIE MONEY, ITUNES,

LUNCH WITH THE PRINCIPAL AND MUCH MORE.

The gifts are divided into four categories: 7th & 8th, 9th & 10th, 11th & 12th and VIP (Very Improved Pupil).

To qualify for the VIP category, students, no matter what their GPA is, need to bring their grades up by .50 from the previous grading period.

This category is also divided into grades 7 & 8, 9 & 10 and 11 & 12.

SV Student Council provides us with Free HOMECOMING DANCE ticket for card holders.

SV ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT AND THE ACADEMIC BOOSTER CLUB team up for our week of ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE.

Red, gray and white cardholders get free admission to all home sporting events for the week designated by the ABC and the Athlete Department.

We support students taking AP TESTS by helping to offset the costs of the tests.

SENIOR SIGNS

Many business donate money towards our Senior Signs and Crowl Lumber donates the stakes for each Senior,

They receive them usually on Senior Day.

FUNDING

The Academic Booster Club is completely supported by donations. 100% of all donations goes toward rewarding our students for their academic achievements.

Funding comes from many different sources. Many parents, grandparents and businesses, local and otherwise,

receive letters of support from us early in the school year. Many of these supporters have been there for us from our beginning 24 years ago.

If you would like to be on this mailing list, just give us a call or drop us an email, and you will receive a reminder letter each year.

Several families, in lieu of flowers for their loved one who has passed away, ask that donations be made to The Academic Booster Club in his/her memory. Some memorial scholarships are also done through the Academic Booster Club. Also, in our INSIDE SANDY VALLEY , we have a letter of support for people in our community who would like to help us keep this very important part of our school.

We call these supporters our RED & GRAY SUPPORTERS. I hope you will consider becoming a

RED & GRAY SUPPORTER by printing the following form and mailing it to:
